First half goals from Mathias Normann and Teemu Pukki fired Norwich to their first victory of the season.

The Canaries took the lead in the sixth minute, as Normann fired a left-footed shot into the bottom corner past Alvaro Fernandez in the Brentford goal.

Daniel Farke’s side then doubled their lead inside half hour when Pukki was fouled by Charlie Goode in the penalty area, before the Finnish international dispatched from 12 yards.

The Bees were fast out of the traps in the second half and thought they had a goal in the 50th minute. Bryan Mbuemo lifted the ball over Tim Krul but VAR ruled the strike out for offside.

Thomas Frank’s side did have a goal just 10 minutes later, when Rico Henry volleyed home after a delightful Saman Ghoddos cross.

Brentford prodded and probed for an equaliser in the last half hour but were unable to break down the Norwich defence, securing the Canaries’ first league victory of the campaign.
